Key Features
High-Friction Facings
Lined on both sides with high-temperature, wear-resistant materials (such as carbon composite, ceramic, or woven copper wires) to ensure strong grip and heat dissipation without slipping.
Torsion Springs (Damper Springs)
Located in the center hub, these coil springs absorb fluctuations in engine torque and crankshaft vibrations. They ensure smoother engagement and reduce drivetrain noise and shock.
Cushioning/Wave Springs
The friction linings are attached to wave springs rather than flat steel. This allows the contact pressure to build gradually as the clutch engages, resulting in a much smoother, chatter-free takeoff.
Splined Hub
The center hub features grooved teeth (splines) that interlock with the transmission's input shaft. This allows the disc to slide freely back and forth to disengage while ensuring it locks perfectly to spin the transmission.
Clutch Fork
The clutch fork is a lever that pivots to move the release bearing. One end of the fork holds the release bearing, while the other connects to the clutch actuation system.
Pressure Plate
The pressure plate is a spring-loaded metal plate that bolts to the flywheel. It applies consistent and powerful pressure to the clutch disc, clamping it firmly against the flywheel.
Flywheel
The flywheel is a heavy, rotating disc that bolts directly to the engine's crankshaft. It serves several crucial functions. First, it provides a smooth, flat surface for the clutch disc to engage with.
Release Bearing
Also known as the throw-out bearing, the release bearing is a critical component for disengaging the clutch. It is a bearing assembly that rides along the transmission's input shaft sleeve.
Type
Hydraulic clutch. This type of clutch system allows the engine to transmit torque when it reaches a certain engine speed. Thus, the power is transmitted by a centrifugal pump which communicates with a turbine.
Electromagnetic clutch. Also known as an electric power-assisted clutch, it works on the electromagnet principle, i.e. an electromagnetic field is generated by an iron core and a coil for torque transmission.
Flywheel. This flat circular part rotates whenever the engine is started. The flywheel, being bolted to the crankshaft (the base component on which the combustion engine is built), rotates with the engine.
Pressure plate or hub. Bolted to the flywheel, the hub or pressure plate is responsible for rotating in unison. It also consists of a diaphragm or springs, with which the clutch disc is released.

Used in heavy-duty industrial and agricultural engines to safely engage and disengage power from the engine to auxiliary tools, such as hydraulic pumps or compressors.

Tractors and excavators utilize wet or dry clutch packs in their drivetrains and hydraulic systems to smoothly maneuver rugged terrain and operate heavy lifting equipment.
